Extremely rare small French oval shaped frame clock of Napoleon III. period. Black lacquered wooden frame with glass covering the dial as well as its wooden surroundig painted with Chinese scenes. Alabaster dial with brass Roman numerals, 8 day spring wound movement of Paris type, half and full hour striking on bell, locking-plate striking system, anchor escapement, steel pendulum suspension spring, Breguet type steel hands. Movement marked on back plate by ist manufacturer: S. Marti et Cie, MÉDAILLE DE BRONZE. Look at: TARDY Dictionnaire Des Horlogers Francais, 1971, page 435.
