12. Signatur Japy

French table clock whoose case is a combination of bronze and an alloy of zinc showing the famous French poet Jean de la Fontaine ( 1625-1691 ). He holds a pencil in his right hand and a small book with the title „ Le Renard et les raisins“    ( The fox and the grapes ) in his left hand. On his right side a fox is looking up to the raisins he unfortunately cannot get. On his right side a stork is symbolizing another famous tale of Jean de la Fontaine, titled „Le renard et la cigogne“ ( The fox and the stork ).
8 day spring wound movement of Paris type, half and full hour striking on bell, locking-plate striking system, anchor escapement, white enamel dial with Roman numerals, silk suspension of pendulum with fine adjustement from the front of the case by turning the square-end above the dial. This clock was made around 1850/55. Mini key for pendulum adjustment must be replaced during restoration work.For the other parts we guarantee that they all originally fit together.
