English grandmother cottage clock from first half of 19 th. century. 30 hour weight driven movement ( going and striking train are composed side by side ) with Huyghens type endless-chain winding mechanism. Anchor escapement and long pendulum, locking-plate striking on bell. Hand sawn iron hand. Square painted dial showing sheaves of ears in the corners, Roman hour numerals, signed: Wells Shipston.
