French Morbier clock of Louis XVi. period, 8 day string wound movement with verge escapement, folded pendulum with a plomb bob, half hour striking ‚passing by’ on right bell, full hour striking on left bell, rack striking system, with repetition. Two bells of different sizes and sounds which allow to differ half hour strikes from full hour strikes between noon/midnight and two o’clock a.m and p.m. Iron made hour and minute wheels. Unusual small iron cage. Casted bronze head piece with French rooster and emblem with chain of the union and inside bonnet of the Jacobins on a lance. Double shaped enamel dial with Roman hour and Arabic minute numerals, hand sawn iron hands.

Clock case: 36,2 x 24,0 x 16 cm, total height of clock:  165,00 cm

Dial diameter: 24,0 cm, length of pendulum: 165,00 cm.

This clock was made approx. 1792/93.

The dial was damaged and has been restored, the pendulum is a repro pendulum, all other parts of this clock originally fit together.
