Morbier clock with verge esapement and folded pendulum, month duration with half and full hour striking on bell with repetition. Two parts dial surroundig made from pressed brass sheets showing the Greek goddess of victory NIKE
holding a trumped and a crown of laurel in her hands and standing on a crescent. She is framed by cornucopia and palmette, topped by a tendril of laurel. The crescent being the symbol for Turkey - also called the ill man at the Bosporus at that time – had been defeated in 1830 when the Greek people got their independant state after a fight of nine years for liberty.
This clock owns another rare tiny detail difficult to detect. The sun-burst hands do not show the usual sun-head but the portrait of a blackamoor with a ribbon around ist head. This blackamoor is the symbol of liberty for he Corsican people since 1762.
